John Lewis launches ‘dress for hire’ service

The John Lewis department store has launched a dress for hire service as it looks to help customers with the cost of living and encourage a more sustainable way of shopping.

Customers can hire a clothing item in return for a fee starting from £20. They can choose from rental durations of four, eight, ten or 20 days.

Clothing is available from brands such as Hansen & Gretel, Anna Scholz, Barrus London, Olivia Rubin and Biba.

John Lewis has teamed up with rental specialist Hurr on the project. Hired items arrive with a return bag and pre-paid label and are sent back and dry cleaned by Hurr.

In a statement on its website, John Lewis said: “Our new rental range makes designer womenswear more affordable than ever. With our curated selection, including new designer brands and must-have John Lewis collections, you can easily refresh your look, without it costing the earth.”
