John Lewis hires first director of design for fashion
John Lewis has appointed Queralt Ferrer as its first director of design for fashion as it looks to become a more “significant player” in the fashion and home categories.
The department store said the move will support plans to develop and grow its own-brand ranges.
Earlier in her career, Ferrer worked as womenswear design director at Massimo Dutti where she led the womenswear launch with full responsibility for the collection design strategy. She has also previously been design director for womenswear, lingerie and beauty at Marks & Spencer where she was responsible for the whole brand portfolio.
Kathleen Mitchell, commercial director at John Lewis, said: “Queralt’s appointment underlines our ambition to further raise the profile of John Lewis design and our commitment investing in our own-brand ranges. She brings outstanding expertise in world-class design that will elevate the creative energy and talent we already have within the team.”
