Joe Browns makes good start to new financial year
Clothing retailer Joe Browns has seen its sales increase by 25% in the first two months of its financial year as it pursues its expansion plans.
The rise follows a record 12% uplift in turnover in the twelve months to June 2018 compared to the previous year.
During the year, Joe Browns’ wholesale business performed particularly well with turnover up 40% in the period. Growth was also driven by the opening of the company’s first ever retail store at Sheffield’s Meadowhall shopping centre last November.
As part of plans to achieve further growth, Joe Browns is expanding its product ranges and appointing six new senior team members.
In a first appointment, Andrew Thomson, the former brand director for EMEA at Original Penguin, has been hired as Joe Browns’ new head of wholesale. He will be responsible for leading the company’s UK and international growth and for developing its menswear and licensing divisions.
In addition, Fiona Brown, former global digital marketing manager at GHD, will join the Joe Browns team in early October as head of ecommerce.
New in-house positions have also been created and filled for a senior analyst, designer, ladieswear buyer and retail floor manager. The company is planning to increase recruitment marketing spend by a further 10% in the current financial year as it looks to create additional roles within its marketing and creative teams.
