Joe Browns appoints Dawn Bannerman as chief executive
Joe Browns has appointed Dawn Bannerman as its chief executive.
She has joined the fashion and homeware retailer from La Redoute (UK) where she has worked for the last eight years, most recently as chief commercial officer. Earlier in her career, she worked in marketing and advertising roles at JJB Sports and Shop Direct Group (now The Very Group).
She has succeeded Peter Alecock who has now left the business.
The appointment comes as the retailer prepares to undertake a digital transformation and move into a new phase of UK and overseas growth.
A key focus for Bannerman will be to elevate the retailer’s brand presence which will include the opening of new stores, developing ecommerce capability, and driving growth within opportunity markets.
Founded 25 years ago by Simon Brown, Joe Browns employs 185 people and serves 1.4 million customers.
Michael Truluck, Joe Browns chairman, said: “It’s a great pleasure for Simon, the board and I to welcome Dawn to Joe Browns. We’re excited for our future with Dawn at the helm.
“Having worked with Dawn before, I know her tenacity, curiosity and drive, plus of course her wealth of retail, catalogue and ecommerce experience will help us take Joe Browns to the next level.
“We’d also like to thank Pete for his contribution over the last 18 months and wish him well in his next venture.”
The Joe Browns board now comprises Truluck, Bannerman, founder Simon Brown, finance director Darren Abbott, merchandise director Alison Rycroft, marketing director Tracey Hepton, and buying and design director Jane Reik.
Bannerman said: “Joe Browns is a brand I have known and admired, both personally and professionally for many years.
“This pride in the brand, combined with a real passion for the product and making the customer feel ‘remarkable’ is what makes Joe Browns really stand out from the crowd.
“I am delighted to have the opportunity to build on some strong foundations and excited to lead this fantastic business into its next phase of growth.”
