Job cuts made at M&Co’s head office

There have been several redundancies at M&Co’s head office in Scotland following the fashion retailer’s collapse into administration earlier this month.

According to Drapers, a source close to the business told the publication that up to 35 staff members at the office in Inchinnan have lost their jobs.

The redundancies have spanned the marketing and IT departments, as well as M&Co’s production studio.

Teneo, administrators to M&Co, confirmed to Drapers that redundancies have been made but did not give an exact figure.

M&Co entered administration for the second time in just over two years this month after battling against rising costs and declining consumer confidence. At the time of its collapse, the retailer operated 170 stores across the UK and employed almost 2,000 people.

Teneo is currently exploring a potential sale of the business.
