JD Sports buys Pretty Green

Sportswear retailer JD Sports has rescued Liam Gallagher’s Pretty Green fashion brand out of administration.

In a move that will save 67 jobs, JD Sports has acquired Pretty Green’s brand, online and wholesale businesses and its Manchester flagship store.

However, 11 shops and 33 concessions in House of Fraser stores are closing with the loss of nearly 100 jobs.

Simon Thomas, joint administrator and partner at Moorfields Advisory, said: “Pretty Green is a popular brand and received a considerable amount of interest. We are confident that JD Sports is the right fit for the business and will help it to grow its online and wholesale channels.”

Peter Cowgill, executive chairman of JD Sports, added: “We are pleased to have completed the acquisition of the highly regarded Pretty Green brand. We look forward to working with the team on future positive developments.”
