JD Sports appoints Angela Luger and Darren Shapland to its board
JD Sports has announced that Angela Luger and Darren Shapland will become non-executive directors of the company on 1 June.
With extensive experience in digital commerce, digital transformation and marketing, Luger is a former chief executive of The Original Factory Shop and N Brown Group and was also previously managing director of Debenhams. She has recently been appointed as a non-executive director of Jet2 and is currently on the board of the New Look, ScS and Portmeirion. Luger also acts as chair at Paint Traders and WealthiHer Network.
Meanwhile Shapland has worked with retail and consumer businesses for 35 years as both as an executive and non-executive director. His past roles have included being chief executive of Carpetright and chief financial officer at Sainsbury’s. Currently chair of Topps Tiles, Shapland has also held non-executive chair and audit chair roles at companies such as Poundland, Ferguson and Ladbrokes.
