J. Crew to close all six UK stores

US fashion retailer J.Crew is to exit the UK and close all six of its stores in the  country.

According to The Guardian, the company has appointed FRP Advisory as liquidator to the UK business. J. Crew employs 80 staff in the UK and also operates a London head office.

Speaking to the Guardian, a J. Crew spokesperson said: “After a thorough review, we have determined we are best able to serve our UK customers through our global ecommerce platform and are closing our six store locations in the country. We thank our UK associates for their dedication during this unprecedented time and are working to support their transition.”

During the summer, J.Crew Group became the first large retailer in the US to file for bankruptcy protection during the coronavirus crisis, but emerged from Chapter 11 earlier this month after successfully completing a financial restructuring process.

J. Crew also operates the Madewell retail brand.
