Interview: Vivobarefoot Founder on Earthed collaboration and limited-edition eco boot
In an interview, Dulma Clark, co-founder of British barefoot footwear company Vivobarefoot, shared insights with TRB into the brand’s latest collaboration with environmental charity Earthed. The partnership has resulted in the launch of the limited-edition Earthed Magna Lite Boot, a project aimed at supporting ecosystem restoration initiatives worldwide.
Innovative partnership raises funds and awareness for global nature projects
The boot, retailing at £185, combines sustainability, style, and purpose, with 100% of profits directed toward Earthed’s Action Fund. The fund aims to raise £25,000 to support projects restoring degraded landscapes, rewilding biodiversity, and empowering local communities to engage in sustainable practices.
Clark explained the personal significance of this partnership: “This collaboration represents a shared commitment to regenerating both people and the planet. It’s a reflection of the values at the heart of everything we do: reconnecting humans with nature. Every step we take helps protect and restore our natural environment.”
The vision behind the Magna Lite boot
The limited-edition boot, created with sustainability in mind, features Earthed’s hand-drawn logo and slogan, “Grow the Future,” in their signature green. Lightweight, durable, and versatile, the design embodies the shared ethos of both organisations.
Clark shared how the idea for the Magna Lite Boot originated: “We wanted to create a tool for adventure that celebrates minimalism, natural movement, and environmental stewardship. The boot allows exploration while keeping our footprint on the planet as light as possible.”
Why a limited-edition approach?
The decision to create only 500 pairs of the boots was strategic. Clark believes this limited-edition approach amplifies the impact of the campaign: “It allows us to focus on craftsmanship and sustainability while creating urgency around the campaign. By tying the product to specific impact goals like raising funds for ecosystem restoration, we make the campaign about being part of a larger movement.”
Making a real-world impact
The funds raised from the campaign will go directly toward projects that restore ecosystems and strengthen biodiversity. These initiatives include reforestation, wetland restoration, and species reintroduction, led by local community leaders.
Clark elaborated on the type of projects the campaign will support: “Initiatives could include planting native trees to regenerate forests or restoring wetlands to improve carbon sequestration. It’s about creating a healthier, more resilient future.”
Earthed’s perspective
Earthed co-founder Christabel Reed praised Vivobarefoot’s commitment to ecological regeneration: “Vivobarefoot is a perfect founding partner for Earthed. This exclusive run of the Magna Lite Boot will help us kick-start the Earthed Action Fund, enabling grants for localised, bottom-up restoration projects around the world.”
The collaboration is also backed by Earthed’s network of advocates, including Cara Delevingne, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Sienna Miller, helping to amplify the message of reconnecting with nature.
Growing the future together
Clark concluded with a powerful reminder of the collaboration’s mission: “To tread lightly on the earth, we must first understand the ground beneath our feet. Together, we are rekindling our inherent connection with the Earth.”
The Earthed Magna Lite Boots are available for pre-order exclusively through Vivobarefoot, with production commencing once 500 orders are placed. Proceeds will directly fund ecosystem restoration efforts, making each purchase a step toward a greener future.
