Hush launches first ever intern collection
The Hush fashion and lifestyle brand has launched a first collection created by its in-house intern cohort.
The range comprises nine pieces that have been developed by Hush’s emerging talent working across the design, buying, merchandising, garment technology, sustainability and marketing departments.
Hush said the cohort led the creative process from start to finish in a year-long paid programme.
After launching the scheme in 2020, Hush has helped five interns (pictured) to develop their skills by working across the various departments. As part of the training, each intern is given hands-on experience in their own department as well as the opportunity to learn more about how other business teams work together in a thriving fashion company.
In a further move, Hush has teamed up with Hackney Empire in a partnership where Hush will contribute 20% of profits from the collection to the theatre’s Creative Futures Programme. The initiative has been developed to nurture and support local young artists and creatives by allowing access to a year-round, free programme of events, workshops and development courses.
Sheila McKain, chief product officer at Hush, said: “Everyone here is so excited to see what our interns have achieved and we can’t wait to share the results of their talents and hard work with the launch of our first ever intern collection.
“I feel very fortunate to work in a place where every day I’m surrounded by so many bright, enthusiastic young people – and I love that we can give them the opportunity to explore their creativity either via our own intern programme or via our partnership with Hackney Empire’s Creative Futures programme.”
