Hugo Boss hires new chief operating officer

Hugo Boss has appointed Heiko Schäfer as chief operating officer.

Due to take up his new position on 16 March,  Schäfer will be responsible for the fashion retailer’s global product development, sourcing, own manufacturing and operations. He will also oversee sustainability and quality management.

Schäfer began his career in 2002 at Boston Consulting Group where he advised clients in the consumer goods and retail sectors. This was followed by a stint at Adidas where he was  senior vice president. In 2015 he was recruited as chief operating officer at the Tom Tailor Group where he subsequently was appointed as chief executive.

Michel Perraudin, chairman of the Hugo Boss supervisory board, said: “We are delighted to have attracted a proven expert such as Heiko Schäfer for our managing board.”

Mark Langer, chair of the Hugo Boss managing board, added: “This addition to our board will strengthen the crucial area of procurement and production for Hugo Boss. The continuing optimisation of these complex processes will be central to helping us achieve our growth targets and increase our profitability.”
