House of Fraser acquires Issa women’s fashion brand

Department store chain House of Fraser has acquired London-based premium fashion brand Issa for an undisclosed sum.

Launched in 2003 by Brazilian-born designer Daniella Helayel, the brand soon attracted a celebrity following including the likes of Kylie Minogue and Elizabeth Hurley. Issa received global attention when Kate Middleton wore its ‘Sapphire London’ dress to announce her royal engagement to Prince William in 2010.

House of Fraser said the acquisition forms part of the review of its house brand portfolio as it looks to improve the quality and designs.

The first new Issa range will be available both instore and online from Autumn/Winter 2017. Designed specifically for glamorous event dressing, the range will launch with 50 options in fabrics featuring archive Issa prints. Marabou jackets, jumpsuits and a range of clutch and shoulder bags will also be included in the collection. Clothing prices will range from £79 to £199, while accessories will cost between £25 and £79.

Maria Hollins, executive director for buying and design at House of Fraser, said the collection will resonate well with House of Fraser customers.

She added: “The design and buying team have worked extremely hard over the last 10 months to develop a range that was true to the Issa brand, by keeping the luxury element of the clothing yet offering a modern twist. Customers will recognise the iconic Issa prints which we have developed within the range as well as the iconic styles coveted by so many.”
