H&M expands at Lakeside
H&M is to open a new shop at Lakeside as part of an expansion and re-modelling of its existing store at the shopping destination.
The design will focus on sustainability and the customer experience and will also include the addition an adjacent H&M Home store.
The fashion store will offer the retailer’s collection and recycling service that allows customers to donate any unwanted clothes and textiles, by any brand, whilst shopping in-store. It will also stock a lower volume of products than the old shop to allow for a more inspirational display.
Meanwhile the new H&M Home unit, which will be linked to H&M’s existing site, will cover 8,000 square feet. This will bring H&M’s total floor space to over 40,000 square feet at Lakeside.
Both the new and re-modelled space will open on 29 September.
Henrik Nordvall, country manager for H&M UK & Ireland, said: “We can’t wait to re-open our Lakeside store this month. It is always our aim to offer our customers a modern and meaningful shopping experience and by introducing H&M Home, along with our ladies, men’s, Divided, kids and accessories ranges, we are confident that our new Lakeside store will offer exactly this.”
Situated in Essex, Lakeside is home to over 250 stores including the likes of M&S and Zara.
Steve Gray, head of European retail asset management at Global Mutual, said: “We are incredibly excited that H&M has decided to expand here at Lakeside and also to invest in its existing offer – ensuring it remains compelling and up to date – in line with the latest retailing trends and innovation. The brand is a valued partner and long-standing tenant, with a loyal customer base.”
