Goldsmiths expands presence at Solihull’s Touchwood

The Goldsmiths luxury watch and jewellery retailer has expanded its footprint at Touchwood with a move to a new 3,550 square foot store.

The Watches of Switzerland Group, which operates the Goldsmiths brand, also opened a new TAG Heuer store at Touchwood earlier this year.

With its luxurious and modern retail environment, the new Goldsmiths store will act as a showcase for premium Swiss timepieces and a selection of fine jewellery brands.

Craig Bolton, president of the Watches of Switzerland Group, UK and Europe, said: “Goldsmiths Solihull has undergone an exciting relocation to provide local clientele with a significantly larger showroom housing the finest selection of luxury watch brands, in a new high-end showroom with the premium hospitality area for clients to relax and explore the additional new watch and jewellery collections. We look forward to welcoming people through the door.”

The expansion reflects Goldsmiths’ strong trading at Touchwood and is in line with the scheme’s wider strategy. Developed and implemented by Touchwood owner Ardent UK alongside asset manager Sovereign Centros, the strategy aims to diversify the scheme’s offer and attract more premium brands. Recent arrivals have included Polestar and Miele.

Ardent acquired Touchwood in the summer of 2021. In the first year of its ownership, some 75,500 square feet of new lettings and lease renewals were signed to take occupancy to 96.32%.

Simon Phipps, asset manager at Sovereign Centros, added: “It is always pleasing to see an existing retailer choose to expand its footprint, as Goldsmiths has done, as it both reflects the store’s trading success to date and vindicates the wider strategy being pursued.”
