Gerry Weber appoints interim chairman
Women’s fashion brand Gerry Weber has appointed Alexander Gedat as interim chairman following the resignations of Johannes Ehling as spokesman of the board and Urun Gursu as chief product officer at their own request.
At the beginning of this year, Gerry Weber successfully concluded insolvency proceedings under self-administration. It also carried out a financial repositioning and saw investors Robus Capital and Whitebox become its new owners.
Ehling was appointed chief sales officer and chief digital officer of Gerry Weber in April 2018 and became spokesman of the managing board seven months later. He then carried out a restructuring exercise which included a reorganisation of the sales, marketing, IT, ecommerce and product management functions. He also worked on the sale to the new investors.
Meanwhile, Gursu was appointed as chief product officer in March 2019. His work included making the collection more contemporary and improving the purchasing systems and supply chain. He also launched Gerry Weber’s first completely sustainable collection.
Gedat said: “I would like to thank Johannes Ehling and Urun Gursu for the good work in a very challenging phase of the company on behalf of the entire supervisory noard and the shareholders of Gerry Weber. Both have made extremely important contributions to the further development of the company. We will continue on our strategic path of sustainably restructuring and transforming Gerry Weber.”
