Gap teams up with Kanye West’s Yeezy brand
Gap is to launch a new collection in partnership with Kanye West’s Yeezy brand.
Under West’s creative direction, the Yeezy design studio will develop the new line which will include clothing for men, women and children.
West maintains sole ownership of the Yeezy brand which was valued at $2.9 billion in April 2020. The companies said the new venture will expand the size and scope of the business and build on the success of its footwear range.
Under terms of the partnership, Yeezy will receive royalties and potential equity based on the level of sales.
The partnership marks a return to Gap for West who worked in a Gap store as a teenager in Chicago.
Mark Breitbard, global head of Gap brand, said: “We are excited to welcome Kanye back to the Gap family as a creative visionary, building on the aesthetic and success of his Yeezy brand and together defining a next-level retail partnership.”
The Yeezy Gap line is expected to appear in Gap stores and online in 2021.
