Freemans names Sophie Ellis-Bextor as face of autumn/winter campaign

Freemans has announced that Sophie Ellis-Bextor has been appointed as the face of its new autumn/winter fashion campaign.

The digital department store will target the 40+ female shopper through the campaign with the aim of positioning itself as a “style ally”.

A 30-second film starring Ellis-Bextor will launch on 13 September in ITV’s Coronation Street ad break and the season opener on Channel 4’s Gogglebox. It will also run on YouTube and all major digital channels.

Shot on location in Stockport, Warrington and the Trafford Centre, the ad’s soundtrack features an exclusive  preview of a new single from the star called ‘Freedom of the Night’ which will be released later in the month.

Ellis-Bextor will be joined in the full 360 campaign by the newly launched Freemans‘ Style Squad of stylist influencers on social and digital channels, who will join her in giving style tips and advice.

Richard Cristofoli, chief customer officer at Freemans, said: “As one of the UK’s most iconic brands, we can think of now one better than one of the UK’s most iconic singers to lead the way with us as we continue to evolve.  That is exactly what we have with this partnership with Sophie. Together with our Style Squad we are creating a content platform that responds to customer needs for more help and advice through the new season.”
