Frasers Group calls in administrators for Base Childrenswear and Kids Cavern

Frasers Group has called in administrators for the Base Childrenswear and Kids Cavern brands.

Purchased in a £47.5 million deal, the brands were part of 14 businesses acquired by Frasers Group from JD Sports in December 2022.

These included Choice, Clothingsites, Cricket, Giulio, Missy Empire, Nicholas Deakins, Pretty Green, Prevu Studio, Rascal Clothing, Tessuti  Scotts, Watch Shop and Topgrade Sportswear.

According to Drapers, Michael Lennon and Benjamin Wiles of Kroll Advisory have been appointed as joint administrators.

Base Childrenswear has four stores in Bluewater, Birmingham, Westfield London and Westfield Stratford, all of which were rebranded as Flannels Junior last year.

Meanwhile, Kids Cavern has two stores in Liverpool and Newcastle, and a third store in Manchester trading as Flannels Junior.

Drapers has reported that seven stores have commenced closing down sales and that 50 jobs may be at risk.
