Frasers Group appoints Sir Jon Thompson to board
Frasers Group has appointed Sir Jon Thompson, a former chief executive of the Financial Reporting Council, as a non-executive director.
The company said his experience in corporate governance, reporting and audit, and large-scale project management will help it to strengthen the execution of its long-term growth strategy.
Thompson has also previously been chair of HS2, chief executive of HMRC, and permanent secretary of the Ministry of Defence. At the Financial Reporting Council, he led a major transformation following multiple independent audits.
The company announced back in February that it attended to appoint Thompson as soon as his commitments allowed.
Today, David Daly, chair of the board of Frasers Group, said: “We are delighted to welcome Sir Jon to the board. I know that we will benefit from his vast experience and leadership which will continue to enable the future success of the Elevation Strategy.”
Michael Murray, chief executive officer of Frasers Group, added: “I am pleased to welcome Sir Jon to theboard at a very exciting time for Frasers Group.
“His appointment reflects the progress we have made to date on Frasers’ transformation and Elevation Strategy, as well as our ambitions for the future. Sir Jon’s expertise in corporate governance and major project management will be invaluable as we enter the next phase of our strategy.”
