Footasylum opens new 10,000 square foot store at Lakeside

Footasylum has opened a new, improved store in the Lakeside Shopping Centre.

Spread across 10,000 square feet, the shop at the Essex scheme showcases a new store concept for the footwear and streetwear brand.

Following a significant investment in digital capabilities, the shop aims to create a seamless mobile-first journey for the customer. After a successful trial in smaller stores earlier this year, it also offers customers access to click-and-collect lockers.

Footasylum previously occupied a 3,000 square foot space at Lakeside. The move to a larger store means the brand has employed an additional 30 team members across a mixture of full and part-time contracts to take its total headcount at Lakeside to 70.

The Lakeside opening is part of Footasylum’s ongoing store opening and upsizing programme, which will also include the launch of a 20,000 square foot flagship shop on London’s Oxford Street later this month. The brand is also upsizing a number of its existing sites, including those in Westfield Stratford City, Birmingham Bullring and Leeds White Rose.

Barry Bown, executive chairman and chief executive of Footasylum, said: “This opening is just the latest development in our ongoing expansion programme, which will soon see our flagship Oxford Street store open to the public. Demand for fashion streetwear is strong, and our expansion plans will help ensure that our extensive product offering has an even greater prominence across the UK.”
