Esprit to open new global creative headquarters in New York
Fashion brand Esprit has taken space on New York’s Varick Street for its new global creative headquarters.
Signed with Hudson Square Properties, the lease deal includes over 38,000 square feet spanning two floors in a building on the border of Greenwich Village and Soho.
Esprit is now looking to appoint a “world-class” architectural firm for the renovations of the industrial-style space with the aim of creating an open plan office that is flooded with natural daylight. Once the renovations are complete, the space will house around 100 to 120 employees, including Esprit chief brand officer Ana Andjelic and senior vice president of design Tom Cawson.
The move signals the brand’s return to the US where Esprit was founded in 1968. While Esprit’s creative headquarters are in New York, its operational offices will remain in Hong Kong.
Esprit chief executive William Pak said: “Our intention is for the brand to resonate with a global audience. New York City is the cultural epicentre of the world, a diverse city full of incredible talent. From a creative and design perspective the next evolution of Esprit, like New York, will be sleek, aspirational and timeless.”
Esprit is gearing up for an official relaunch this year which will focus on modernising the brand for today’s consumer “in a way that resonates across generations”. This will include opening flagship stores in New York and Los Angeles, as well as other shops across the US and Canada.
