Escada sold to Regent private equity firm
Luxury fashion house Escada has been sold to the Regent private equity firm.
With headquarters in Munich, the business was previously owned by the Mittal family who acquired it in 2009. Over the past decade, the company has worked to make the brand more contemporary and has invested in upgrading its retail portfolio and expanding its social media and digital activities.
Last year, Escada celebrated its 40th anniversary with a show at the Armory during New York Fashion Week. This year, it announced Rita Ora had become the face of the brand.
Michael Reinstein, Regent chairman, said “Escada has been one of the leading international luxury brands since it was first launched by Margaretha Ley in 1978. We are honoured to build on the hard work of Megha Mittal and the very talented Escada management team led by Iris Epple-Righi to help take the business to new heights.”
