England striker Ollie Watkins invests in The Edit LDN

The Edit LDN has attracted investment from footballer Ollie Watkins as part of a current £5 million funding round.

Together with sports presenter Josh Denzel, the Aston Villa player has become one of the early participants in the online sneaker and streetwear marketplace’s share sale.

The proceeds will be used to grow The Edit LDN’s expansion in the US, Middle East and North Africa.

Watkins told Sky News: “I’ve always had an interest in sneaker culture, and joining forces with The Edit LDN seems like a natural step.”

Moses Rashid, founder and chief executive of The Edit LDN, added: “Having household names in Ollie and Josh joining our journey, marks a great next phase of The Edit LDN as we continue to drive our platform to a wider audience of customers, making the in accessible accessible.”

Early this year, The Edit LDN secured $4.8 million in seed funding in a round led by Regah Ventures.
