Deichmann to expand into MENA region
Footwear retailer Deichmann is to expand into the Middle East and North Africa through a franchise partnership with the Azadea Group.
The move marks the first time that Deichmann has worked with a franchise partner in its 100-year history. The company’s first store on the Arabian Peninsula under the Deichmann brand will open in 2019 in Dubai.
Deichmann currently has a presence in 26 countries and in its 2017 financial year sold more than 176 million pairs of shoes in around 4,000 stores and 36 online shops.
Heinrich Deichmann, chairman of the board of directors of Deichmann, said: “We are aiming for further growth and keen to open up new markets. Having opened stores in France and Belgium last year, we are now represented in almost every country in Europe. So it is time for us to develop further growth markets. We believe that there is huge potential for our concept of ‘high-quality fashion shoes at an affordable price’ in this region.”
Azadea Group has been opening stores across the Middle East and North Africa for 40 years and currently operates over 50 international franchise concepts in the categories of fashion and accessories, food and beverage, home furnishings, sporting goods, multimedia, and beauty and cosmetics.
