Debenhams CFO to join Selfridges
Matt Smith, chief financial officer of Debenhams, is to leave the department store chain to join Selfridges as finance director.
Debenhams has commenced a search for his successor but in the meantime Smith will continue in his role to ensure there is an orderly handover.
Sergio Bucher, Debenhams chief executive, said: “I would like to thank Matt for his support since I joined the company and his key role in devising and implementing our Debenhams Redesigned strategy. His hard work and wise counsel have been very valuable during a period of significant change and I look forward to our continuing to work together in the coming months.”
Prior to joining Debenhams, Smith’s roles included chief financial officer at Mothercare and a range of senior finance roles within Home Retail Group, including finance director of Argos.
