Converse to launch genderless clothing collection
Converse is to launch its first genderless apparel collection this summer.
Called Shapes, the range will include a set of five core pieces in four sizes. The brand said the garments have been designed for body shape not gender and are made from 50% recycled cotton and 50% virgin cotton.
Jonathan Tappan, vice president of global apparel at Converse, added: “When starting design from a non-traditional place, there are endless opportunities to reimagine everything from construction to sizing to materials. Shapes is the perfect example of how to meet the consumer in their element. By bringing functionality, inclusivity and comfort to everyday clothes, we believe we can really change the game.”
Converse is also planning to launch new collections called Utility Fleece and Court Ready. Due to be released in 2021, the ranges will be aimed at the skate and basketball communities.
