Charles Clinkard to close stores on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day

Footwear retailer Charles Clinkard will not be opening its stores on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day to reward its 300 staff for their hard work over the year

The family-owned business, which has 26 stores, will close for Christmas Day and Boxing Day on Christmas Eve and for New Year’s Day on 31 December. Normal store opening times will commence from Sunday 2 January.

Tim Payne, managing director at Charles Clinkard, said: “As a thank you to all our colleagues for their incredible hard work over the past year, we are closing all of our retail stores to give everyone a much-deserved break. The past year has been tough on everybody and particularly the retail sector, but we’ve managed to come out on the other side largely because of the amazing people at Charles Clinkard who have worked tirelessly throughout this period, and their efforts have been hugely appreciated.”

Sophie Bolas from the Wetherby branch added: “Christmas is a time for families, so I’m absolutely delighted that Charles Clinkard has decided to thank their staff with such a lovely gesture. The last 18 months have been extremely challenging and turbulent times, so to be able to spend time with my loved ones this Christmas means the world to me.”

The news follows the recent launch of three new Charles Clinkard concessions in Norwich, Braintree and Chelmsford.
