Boxpark to give free pop-up to celebrate International Women’s Day
To celebrate International Women’s Day, London’s Boxpark Shoreditch is running a competition in which a female-owned, fashion or retail start-up will be offered a free, one-week residency.
The pop-up will give the winning entrant their own retail space at Boxpark’s Shoreditch site, which is home to fashion retailers such as Michiko Koshino and Only The Blind.
Boxpark’s initiative for International Women’s Day hopes to give a new and exciting fashion or retail brand a stepping stone to success. The competition comes in light of recent research by Unilever Foundry which found that 46% of start-ups believe there is a gender bias problem, with the women surveyed expressing that they had experienced bias at all stages of their start-up’s life cycle.
To be in with a chance of winning, entrants are being asked to submit an overview of their brand and why they would be a perfect fit for Shoreditch by 5 April. Boxpark said the entry judged to have the most unique vision will be awarded the space.
The entries will be reviewed by Boxpark’s retail director Agee Rose and her team. The successful pop-up will open to the public on 7 May.
Rose said: “We’re proud to play host to a number of successful, female owned retail and food outlets at both our Shoreditch and Croydon sites. So, we thought what better time than International Women’s Day to offer a new, female entrepreneur the opportunity to get amazing exposure for their brand with their very own space at Boxpark.”
