Bottega Veneta names new creative director

Luxury fashion brand Bottega Veneta has appointed Daniel Lee as its new creative director.

A graduate of Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, Lee was most recently director of ready-to-wear design at Céline where he worked from 2012. Prior to that, he held design roles at Maison Margiela, Balenciaga and Donna Karan.

Claus Dietrich Lahrs, chief executive of Bottega Veneta, said: “Daniel Lee has a deep understanding of the house’s current challenges both in terms of creation and development. He will bring to Bottega Veneta a new and distinctive creative language that will continue building the house’s success based on the ambitious foundations already developed over recent years.”

Lee will take up his new position on 1 July when he will succeed Tomas Maier who has recently stepped down after working with the brand since 2001.

Commenting on his new role, Lee said: “I’m both honoured and excited to continue the legacy that has been created at Bottega Veneta over the last five decades. Maintaining the ingrained codes of the House, craftsmanship, quality and sophistication, I look forward to evolving what has gone before, while contributing a new perspective and modernity.”
