Benetton announces programme of new store openings

Italian fashion retailer Benetton is to open a number of new stores this year in Italy and in major cities around the world as part of plans to strengthen its sales network.

The stores will each follow one of two store concepts which will both aim to offer customers an innovative purchasing experience and immerse shoppers in the Benetton brand.

Called Light Colors, the first concept was developed by Benetton’s retail design department with the help of architect Tobia Scarpa. The stores feature a “vibrant and luminous” furniture system and a special lighting system designed by Scarpa that uses diffused, direct and indirect light sources.

While the first new Light Colors stores will open in the spring/summer of 2019 in Rome and Palermo, the concept has already made its debut in Istanbul, where in the past month Turkey’s largest Benetton shop has reopened under the new format. More openings are planned for Italy and in other countries this year.

The second store concept, which was originally introduced in Benetton’s London flagship store in March 2018, will be the reference model for stores situated in major commercial hubs around the world. The London opening was followed by stores in Düsseldorf, Padua and Turin in 2018, and the concept will soon be applied to new flagship stores in Barcelona and New Delhi.
