Balenciaga to enter India through partnership with Reliance Brands
Luxury brand Balenciaga has teamed up with Reliance Brands to enable it to enter the Indian market.
The long-term franchise agreement will see the company become Balenciaga’s sole partner in launching the brand in the country.
The partnership will be RBL’s second with Balenciaga’s parent group Kering.
Balenciaga’s collections span womenswear, menswear, accessories and objets d’art.
Darshan Mehta, managing director of Reliance Brands, said: ““Few brands have actually embraced the opportunity for creative reinterpretation and reinvention quite like Balenciaga. It’s the most opportune time to introduce the brand to the country as the Indian luxury customer has matured and using fashion as a form of creative expression of their individuality,”
Reliance Brands has a wide range of brand partnerships with the likes of Jimmy Choo, Georgio Armani, Tiffany & Co and Superdry. In 2019, the company made its first international foray by acquiring British toy retailer Hamleys.
