ASOS appoints interim chief financial officer to support turnaround

Fashion retailer ASOS has appointed Sean Glithero as interim chief financial officer to provide additional support while it works through its Driving Change transformation programme.

He will succeed Katy Mecklenburgh who is leaving the business in May, although Glithero has already joined to ensure a smooth handover. He will remain with the business until a permanent chief financial officer is appointed.

ASOS said Glithero has a track record of delivery across a range of digital and fashion businesses. During his 28-year finance career, including ten years as a chief financial officer, he has led the finance functions at Auto Trader Group, Funding Circle and Matches Fashion.

The retailer has recently taken steps to simplify its decision-making processes while also building a new leadership team to add more depth in critical areas. Spanning creative, product, trading, supply chain, technology, marketing, finance, strategy, people and communications, three quarters of the roles have now been filled through internal appointments and new hires.

ASOS will be giving an update on progress against its Driving Change programme when it announces its interim results on 10 May.
