Asda trials new uniform for store colleagues

Asda is to launch a six-week trial of a new uniform for store colleagues in what is the supermarket’s first significant overhaul to its staff clothing in over 12 years.

Over 2,600 colleagues from 12 stores will be testing the new look with ten different types of uniform available. They will then provide feedback on things like the look and fit, comfort, wearability and how the items wash.

The garment styles and choices of uniform will be available to colleagues in different departments, with staff in George, Produce, Pharmacy, Drivers, and Bakery all set to receive uniform tailored to their specific day to day roles.

Asda is hoping to launch new uniforms right across its business n 2026.

The trial uniforms have had natural cotton added to help colleagues better regulate their body temperature, particularly if they have peri-menopausal and menopausal symptoms.

Hayley Tatum MBE, chief people and corporate affairs officer at Asda, said: “We’re excited to launch this uniform trial – our first major redesign in over a decade.

“We’ve put our colleagues at the heart of this trial, enlisting their support to ensure the  uniform not only meets their needs, but that they are proud to wear.

“We’re looking forward to hearing their thoughts in the coming weeks and using this insight to shape the final version of the uniform.”
