The LEGO Group opens its second UK LEGO Store in Manchester

The LEGO Group today, 16th November,  opened the doors to its second store in Greater Manchester.

Located in the iconic Trafford Centre, the new 267sqm LEGO Store is already delighting fans of all ages, as they gathered excitedly this morning to catch the official opening.

Local celebs including Leah Galton, Toni Duggan and Jazmine Franks were given an exclusive look inside the store last night.

Guests were treated with extravagant builds and offers, whilst enjoying LEGO product favourites such as LEGO City, LEGO Friends and LEGO Ninjago, plus LEGO Retail exclusives such as the LEGO Icons Natural History Museum and LEGO Marvel Avengers Tower sets.

Paying homage to the local community, the new store showcases an intricate, eye-catching big build of Manchester’s emblem – a giant LEGO worker bee, which features 5372 LEGO bricks and took 68 hours to complete.

Open seven days a week from November 16th, 2023, The new LEGO Store features a range of experiences including:

  • LEGO Pick a Brick Wall: a great way for customers to select the exact elements that they require for their builds.
  • Hands-on Play Opportunities: including free build challenges and events each month.
  • Build a Minifigure Tower: visitors can mix and match from a wide selection of bottoms, tops, heads, hair pieces and accessories to customise LEGO minifigures.
  • Store Associates: whether customers are picking out a gift, looking for the latest set, or bringing a LEGO fan in for a special treat, the LEGO team can help find the perfect set for everyone.

Amy Pearson, Director, EMEA Marketing at LEGO Retail, said: “We love bringing new LEGO Stores to our fans and local communities. We searched long and hard for the perfect place to open our second Greater Manchester store, but the Trafford Centre was just right! We’re looking forward to bringing our much-loved sets and play experiences to LEGO fans of all ages to Manchester’s iconic Trafford Centre.”

Simon Layton, Centre Director at Trafford Centre, commented: “We’re absolutely delighted to have opened the doors to a brand-new LEGO Store in the Trafford Centre. It’s been great to see so many people turn up to celebrate this opening with us, including a whole host of local celebrities, media and families. We’re confident our community is going to love the play experiences this fun and colourful store has to offer!”

This new store is the 19th LEGO Store in the UK and brings with it the creation of over 25 new jobs within the local community. This follows an extremely successful year for The LEGO Group opening stores in the newly renovated Battersea Power Station and another Irish store in Blanchardstown Centre in Dublin Ireland.

The new LEGO Store will also be celebrating the LEGO Insiders weekend starting 17th November.  LEGO Insiders is the loyalty programme, where members can earn points when purchasing and playing.  Over the LEGO Insiders weekend there will be discounts on selected sets, the opportunity to earn double points and a competition to win 1 million points. There are also some great gifts available when you spend certain amounts, plus some exciting merchandise in the LEGO Insiders Reward Centre.
