KEF Blends sound innovation and digital art in ‘Re-Absorbed’ exhibition

KEF, the renowned British audio pioneers, have announced the launch of “Re-Absorbed,” an innovative exhibition that merges cutting-edge acoustic technology with digital artistry.

Set to take place at the new KEF Music Gallery in London from 20-23 August 2024, this immersive event invites the public to explore the intersection of sound and visual art in an entirely new way.

A fusion of sound technology and digital artistry to create immersive retail

“Re-Absorbed” is the latest evolution of KEF’s ongoing “Journey Through Sound” project, which aims to empower creators and provide extraordinary sensory experiences. This exhibition is the second instalment in the Absorbed series, a collaboration with the design collective Parameta, that pushes the boundaries of how sound is experienced and perceived. The Absorbed collection originally drew inspiration from KEF’s revolutionary Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT™), a breakthrough in speaker design that eliminates unwanted sound, enhancing audio clarity and fidelity.

The exhibition offers a unique blend of live generative animation and real-time audio, featuring works by digital artist Hieroglyphica and composer Murphy James, in collaboration with Parameta. The event promises to be a journey through the intricate relationship between noise and high-fidelity sound, showcasing how technology can be both functional and artistically expressive.

Grace Lo, President and Head of Global Marketing at KEF, described the exhibition as a natural extension of KEF’s long-standing tradition of innovation. “For decades, KEF has been at the vanguard of acoustic innovation. We recognise that immersive sound experiences unfold beyond conventional audio boundaries. At KEF, we are committed to sharing the magic of great sound with a wider audience through our brand experiences,” Lo stated.

Villie Tsang, VP of Growth at KEF, echoed this sentiment, emphasising the brand’s commitment to transcending traditional boundaries. “With Re-Absorbed, we’re crafting a space where technology and artistry intertwine. This is our invitation to the community to experience sound as a living, breathing art form,” Tsang added.

“We know there’s nothing quite like experiencing sound just as it was intended. It’s what drives us. We’re proud to say that we’ve created the perfect space for that: KEF Music Gallery London”

A highlight of the exhibition will be an exclusive fireside chat on 22 August, featuring the collaborating artists and KEF’s technology leaders. This intimate discussion aims to provide deeper insights into the creative and technical processes behind “Re-Absorbed” and explore the future of generative art. The session will be open to a limited number of attendees, with registration available to myKEF members on a first-come, first-served basis.

Dr. Jack Oclee-Brown, VP of Technology at KEF, highlighted the exhibition’s significance in demonstrating the artistic potential of acoustic engineering. “Re-Absorbed is a testament to the artistry inherent in audio engineering. It beautifully illustrates the harmonious relationship between cutting-edge acoustics and digital art,” Oclee-Brown noted.

KEF’s “Re-Absorbed” exhibition is not just a showcase of the brand’s latest technological advancements but also a celebration of the creative spirit that drives innovation. By bringing together a diverse community of artists, musicians, engineers, and enthusiasts, KEF is setting a new standard for how brands can engage with their audiences, offering a rich, multi-sensory experience that goes beyond the conventional retail encounter.

KEF, which sells its products direct to consumers online, through their London store/gallery, and via authorised dealers worldwide, is using this event to further cement its reputation as a leader in both the audio and digital art spaces. The exhibition highlights the seamless integration of technology and creativity, reflecting KEF’s ongoing commitment to delivering superior audio experiences.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 20-23 August 2024 at the KEF Music Gallery, located at 42-48 Great Portland Street, London. For more information, and to register for the fireside chat, visit KEF’s official website.
