George at Asda collaborates with BBC Children in Need and Liz Pichon
George at Asda has collaborated with Children in Need 2022 and Liz Pichon, author of the globally translated Tom Gates books.
BBC Children in Need & George at Asda have announced a collaboration with world famous children’s author and illustrator Liz Pichon.
Pichon, is known for illustrating the best-selling Tom Gates book series, has created this year’s Official T-Shirt, which will raise money for the charity.
This unisex t-shirt features BBC Children in Need’s iconic Pudsey character in Liz’s signature doodle style. Doodling is an inclusive activity which has huge benefits for people of all ages and abilities, in particular for those with additional or sensory needs. Doodling is proven to support positive wellbeing, as it helps people to relax and encourages them to express themselves through drawing – supporting mood regulation, memory recall, creativity and problem solving.
Liz Pichon said: “Pudsey is iconic! So being asked to design the BBC Children In Need T-shirt was unbelievably exciting. My visit to the amazing Crawley Community Youth Services really helped to SPARK off my ideas and the children and staff there were brilliant.
“The end design looks GREAT on adults and children, I love the added gold disco foil and I couldn’t be prouder to be part of this year’s launch. I’d encourage everyone to buy one and you can even colour the design in and get EXTRA creative!”
Claire Hoyle, Director of Commercial at BBC Children in Need said: “We are absolutely delighted to have collaborated with the talented children’s author and illustrator, Liz Pichon, on our Official T-Shirt with George & Asda this year. Liz’s design is fun and creative, and we know that our supporters will love it. We know that this t-shirt will raise vital funds for children and young people across the UK when they need it most, but we also hope that it encourages people to get doodling and enjoy the positive benefits of doodling for themselves too!”
Vicki Radford, Buying Manager, George at Asda said, “It’s been a great honour and lots of fun to work with Liz on the creation of this year’s official BBC Children in Need T-shirt. It’s been an incredible opportunity to be part of Liz’s vision providing accessibility, education and creativity through the power of doodling which is a first for one of our BBC Children in Need T-Shirt designs.”
The Official T-Shirt is available to purchase now online at George.com and in stores, in both adult and child sizes (£5 – £9) with all profits from the sale of the t-shirt going to BBC Children in Need.
