Games Workshop agrees deal with Amazon for Warhammer 40,000 to be made into TV series
Games Workshop has reached an agreement with Amazon Content Services whereby Amazon will create a TV series based on the Warhammer fantasy miniature wargame.
In a statement, Games Workshop said the deal includes Amazon developing Games Workshop’s intellectual property into film and television productions and Amazon being granted associated merchandising rights.
The company said the first rights to be developed will relate to the Warhammer 40,000 universe.
In advance of contracts being entered into, Amazon will begin working on some development activities such as holding preliminary discussions with writers.
Games Workshop said in a statement: “Games Workshop is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement in principle for Amazon to develop Games Workshop’s intellectual property into film and television productions and for Games Workshop to grant Amazon associated merchandising rights.
“Whilst the parties have reached agreement on material commercial terms, the project is wholly dependent on and subject to contracts being agreed and entered into, which the parties are working towards.”
