Currys appoints Octavia Morley as non-executive director

Electricals retailer Currys has appointed former Crew Clothing managing director Octavia Morley as a non-executive director.

Due to take up her role on 1 April, she will also become a member of the company’s remuneration, ESG and nominations committees.

Morley has previously held various senior operational and strategic roles in companies such as Asda, Laura Ashley and Woolworths.  She is also a former chief executive and chair of LighterLife UK and has previously worked as managing director of Crew Clothing and as chief executive at OKA Direct.

Currently chair of Banner Group and holding board roles at Crest Nicholson and Ascensos, she has also held non-executive director roles at Card Factory and John Menzies in the past.

Currys has also announced that Tony DeNunzio, senior independent director, will step down as a director on 25 April 2024 after more than eight years on the board. Morley will succeed him as the senior independent director and chair of the remuneration committee on the same date.

Ian Dyson, chair of the board of Currys, said: “I am absolutely delighted to welcome Octavia Morley to the board. Octavia has a strong retail background with significant board experience including in senior independent director and remuneration committee chair roles. I look forward to working with her.

I would like to thank Tony DeNunzio for his service on the board over the last eight years. Tony’s deep expertise in the European retail and consumer goods sectors has been invaluable to the board during a period of significant change.”
