Dixons Travel opens first store on board a cruise ship
Airport electricals retailer Dixons Travel has launched its first cruise ship store.
Opening for a six-month trial period, the store onboard P&O Cruises’ Ventura is situated in a central position on deck seven and will stock the latest technology products from brands such as Apple, Beats, Bose, Canon, Samsung, Microsoft and Monster.
Dixons said top selling items include binoculars and tablets.
The 274 square foot store, which is the 32nd in the Dixons Travel group, will be open while the ship is at sea. It will then have varying opening hours due to the different departure times from port each day.
P&O Cruises senior vice president Paul Ludlow said: “P&O Cruises are delighted to welcome the UK’s leading electrical retailer onboard Ventura with the first Dixons Travel store afloat. The opening brings an extensive range of great value products which have not been available previously and we hope guests will enjoy picking up some of the very best tech as they travel on the sea.”
Dixons is offering the ship’s passengers its ‘Double the Difference’ promise where if shoppers find the same item cheaper at Amazon, John Lewis, Argos and Jessops, the retailer will discount double the difference instantly.
Gavin Wood, head of operations, development and expansion at Dixons Travel, said: “We are excited to have opened our first ever Dixons Travel store onboard a cruise ship. Our store onboard P&O Cruises, Ventura provides a unique shopping experience, designed especially with cruise guests in mind, who have more time to trial our products.”
