Dixons Travel introduces new format Travel Kiosk at Southend Airport
Airport electrical retailer Dixons Travel has launched a new format Travel Kiosk store at London Southend Airport.
The new concept was created to enable the retailer to open smaller footprint stores within airports. Spanning only ten square metres, the shop is less than a quarter of the size of a typical Dixons Travel store.
London Southend Airport is expected to see its passenger numbers double over the next five years. Dixons Travel said it is currently achieving strong sales at its vending machines already installed at the airport.
The new Travel Kiosk features a compact wall of products from brands such as Bose, Beats, Sony and GoPro. The product range mainly includes headphones, speakers, action cameras and travel accessories. The shop also has a concealed storage area.
Heidi Woodhouse, managing director of Dixons travel and concessions at Dixons Carphone, said “Following the success of our vending machines in London Southend Airport, we’re excited to be launching an innovative new store format for customers. Our first Travel Kiosk has been created to specifically serve key passenger needs in Southend and our highly trained colleagues are on hand to deliver expert advice and top deals to customers without impacting on overall airport dwell time.”
