Dixons Carphone appoints Ed Connolly as chief commercial officer

Dixons Carphone has hired former John Lewis Partnership executive Ed Connolly as its chief commercial officer.

In addition, Mark Allsop has expanded his current role as the company’s chief digital officer as he takes up the new position of chief operating officer.

Due to join the business on 4 May, Connolly held a range of roles across the John Lewis Partnership including director of partnership strategy. In his new role he will be responsible for building on the progress made in Dixons Carphone’s commercial transformation. He will succeed Steve Ager who is stepping down in June after 12 years with the business.

Alex Baldock, chief executive of Dixons Carphone, said: “I am delighted to welcome Ed to Dixons Carphone as chief commercial officer. Ed is a forward-thinking and innovative leader who is focused on building strong, customer-obsessed and highly commercial teams.”

Meanwhile, Allsop’s new role will expand his existing digital portfolio to enable him to lead Dixons Carphone’s omnichannel customer experience. The role will now encompass the company’s stores, contact centres and online business.

Allsop joined Dixons Carphone from Merlin Entertainments in January and will also take up his role on 4 May. He will replace Alan Ritchie as chief operating officer who will also be leaving the business in June.

Baldock added: “I am pleased to be bringing our stores, contact centres and online business together under Mark Allsop’s leadership in his role as chief operating officer. This will enable us to become truly omnichannel and deliver a seamlessly integrated store and digital experience.”
