Currys increases staff hourly base rate pay for second time in 12 months
Currys is to increase the minimum pay rate for hourly paid staff in the UK by 5.2% to £10 per hour.
In addition, staff working in London will see their pay rise to £11.05 per hour.
Due to take effect from 1 August 2022, the uplift follows Currys’ previous commitment to increase base pay for hourly paid staff in line with 2021 Real Living Wage rates back in October. The company has invested nearly £25 million back into colleague training, wellbeing, and rewards and this latest move will take pay rates above the the £9.90 Real Living Wage.
Paula Coughlan, chief people officer at Currys, said: “We understand the mounting pressures from the increased cost-of-living and what this means for our colleagues. We want to make sure we’re doing our part to support them, and that’s why we’re proud to offer higher hourly base pay rates across our 10,000 colleagues. At Currys, our colleagues are our magic ingredient and it’s thanks to them we’re able to help everyone enjoy amazing technology.”
