New John Lewis store to offer more personalised experiences

The John Lewis & Partners department store chain has revealed that customers will be able to enjoy three brand new experiences at its new shop in Cheltenham which opens today.

The store will feature over 20 different services and experiences but the retailer said the three new experiences will offer “the ultimate” in bespoke shopping. All three will be exclusivley piloted at the store.

Previously the reserve of exclusive boutiques, John Lewis’s first ever private shopping service will enable customers to book out the whole shop and have exclusive use after-hours. They will also have access to an expert team of John Lewis staff who will advise on purchases.

To be available for both individuals and groups, customers will be able to use the service however they wish, from organising a special shopping party for a big group of friends and family or booking exclusive use of the shop for themselves. The service carries a minimum spend of £10,000 and is bookable in advance.

Meanwhile, ‘The Shopping List’ will mark the retailer’s first foray into a full-service personal shopping experience. Customers will be able to choose between having personal expert assistance and advice while they shop, or sitting with a glass of fizz while their allocated John Lewis partner does their shopping for them. The service is free of charge with no minimum spend.

Finally, the new ‘Get My Gifts’ Christmas gifting service will enable customers to book their very own John Lewis ‘Gift Guru’ who will help them find suitable gifts for friends and family.

The new store will also feature John Lewis’s biggest ‘Style Studio’ to date, with four personal styling lounges where customers can access style consultations. In addition, the shop will introduce the retailer’s first ever ‘Men’s Personal Styling Lounge’.

Peter Cross, John Lewis partner and director of the customer experience said: “In an age of rapidly changing shopping habits there can be nothing more special than your own personal shopper. Previously the reserve of exclusive boutiques for the famous few, this Autumn in Cheltenham, with the help of our army of expertly trained Partners, we are bringing the intimacy, luxury and magic of personal shopping to the high street.”
