Lord & Taylor to close 19 stores

US luxury department store Lord & Taylor is to close 19 stores.

The business and its parent company Le Tote have recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Stores due to close include six shops in New York, three in Connecticut, two in Maryland, two in Massachusetts and further stores in Florida, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

In a statement, the company said: “Both Le Tote and Lord & Taylor will continue to operate during the Chapter 11 process and offer the same superior service and value.”

Previously owned by Hudsons Bay, Lord & Taylor was bought by Le Tote last year.
