Liberty appoints group buying and merchandising director

Liberty has appointed Lydia King to the role of  group buying and merchandising director.

She had previously spent the last year as interim buying director at the iconic department store.

Liberty said the move marks a significant step in its vision to unify and strengthen its buying and merchandise function as well as its mission to be a thought leader and key partner in luxury retail.

Prior to joining Liberty, King was fashion and buying director at Harrods and also spent 13 years at Selfridges where her last role was womenswear buying and merchandising director.

In new position, she will work to enhance brand partnerships, refine the customer experience and accelerate growth across the business. Both the buying and merchandising teams will report directly to her.

Sarah Coonan, managing director of Liberty retail, said that King had demonstrated exceptional leadership and expertise over the last year and had made a significant impact on the buying team

She added: “This appointment represents a strategic step forward for Liberty as we continue to build our retail business, enhance our reputation as a key luxury partner, and cement our position as a thought leader in the industry.”

Liberty is preparing to celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2025.
