John Lewis to offer customers chance to book in-store Christmas shopping slots
The John Lewis department store chain is to give customers the opportunity to book timed shopping slots in its stores when they reopen after the current lockdown ends in England.
The new service will also be offered for shops in Scotland and Wales.
From 2 December, customers will be able to go onto the retailer’s website and pre-book a slot to visit their local shop up to 14 days in advance. Once they have made a booking, they will receive a confirmation email which they will then be asked to show on arrival. They will also be sent a reminder 24 hours in advance of their slot.
Pippa Wicks, executive director at John Lewis, said: “We’re excited to reopen our shops in England and we’re looking forward to welcoming back our customers to help them make this Christmas extra special. Our priority is to make sure that they are able to shop as safely and easily as they can, whether in our shops or online, while continuing to be delighted and inspired by our Christmas offer.”
In addition, John Lewis shops will have the option to extend their trading hours in the run-up to Christmas to give them more flexibility. If customers have not booked a shopping slot, the retailer is advising them to check its website for each store’s opening hours in advance of their visit.
