JC Penney appoints chief customer officer
JC Penney has appointed Shawn Gensch as its chief customer officer.
Due to take up the role on 3 June, Gensch will report directly to JC Penney chief executive Jill Soltau.
In his new position, he will be responsible for driving customer-centric strategies to grow traffic, engagement and customer retention. He will also be tasked with revitalising the company’s brand, leading marketing initiatives, shaping the company’s messaging, improving the online experience, and increasing customer loyalty.

His appointment fills a vital component of our executive leadership team, and we are eager to leverage his cross-functional expertise to inspire an engaging and rewarding shopping experience for our customers. Shawn will be instrumental in developing a compelling brand identity that builds meaningful connections with new shoppers, and strengthens relationships with our most loyal customers.”
Gensch previoulsy worked with Sprouts Farmers Market where he served as chief customer officer. Prior to that, he co-founded and was chief executive of iAMroyalist, a consumer-driven loyalty platform. He also spent ten years in marketing roles at Target Corporation.
