Harvey Nichols to make job cuts
Department store chain Harvey Nichols has announced a shake-up of its operations as it looks to cut costs.
The move could result in the loss of dozens of jobs at its head office.
The retailer said it will impact less than 5% of its workforce and it is understood that it will seek to offer those affected roles in other parts of the business. It is believed that around 60 employees in London will lose their jobs, subject to a consultation process.
Harvey Nichols is owned by Hong Kong-based Sir Dickson Poon. The company said it had come under pressure following increased inflation, higher costs, and the end of tax-free shopping in the UK.
Pearson Poon, vice chairman of Harvey Nichols, said: “We are taking action to simplify and strengthen our business by optimising our cost structure to operate more efficiently across our support team.
“We are making difficult decisions today to ensure we are well positioned for success in a continuously evolving retail environment.”
Harvey Nichols operates UK stores in London, Bristol, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester.
