Debenhams opens new Midlands store
A new Debenhams department store has opened at the Mander Centre in Wolverhampton.
Spanning 93,000 square feet, the store has created more than 150 new jobs.
Rob Hadfield, director of group property at Debenhams, said: “Wolverhampton is one of the largest markets which does not currently have a Debenhams store. We are delighted to be finally opening in the city.
“This will be the second store to follow a new layout and customer journey following on from our Debenhams Redesigned strategy. Customers will find the store to be inviting and friendly along with new elements such as our new Loaf & Bloom restaurant offer.”
The new opening is part of a £35 million redevelopment of the Mander Centre by owners Benson Elliot.
Jonathan Ratnage, investment manager at Benson Elliot, said: “We are delighted to welcome Debenhams to the Mander Centre. The store’s opening and the redevelopment of the centre marks a significant and eagerly anticipated investment in the region’s second largest city.”
The Mander Centre welcomes up to 17 million visitors per year. Recent additions have included Footasylum, The Entertainer, JD Sports and a 30,000 square foot H&M. The H&M store includes a homewares section which is the first of its kind in the Midlands.
