Debenhams appoints new chief marketing officer
Debenhams has appointed Abigail Comber as its chief marketing officer.
Due to join the department store chain on 7 January, Comber previously worked with British Airways for 25 years where her most recent roles were head of customer experience and global head of brands and marketing. Whilst there, Comber also led BA’s sponsorship of the UK teams at the 2012 London Olympics and Paralympics.
Since leaving BA in May 2018, Comber has been working with businesses to develop turnaround plans with a marketing and customer experience focus.
At Debenhams, she will take over the marketing function from Erin Brookes who is currently managing it on an interim basis.
Stefaan Vansteenkiste, Debenhams chief executive, said: “We are delighted that Abigail is joining Debenhams. Her track record speaks for itself and her experience and understanding of customer engagement and developing digital service initiatives will be particularly important as we continue to work on transforming Debenhams into a business that can compete effectively in the rapidly-changing retail environment.”
